Nathan Beard is originally from northern Ohio and moved to Northern Virginia in 2003. Mr. Beard holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Ohio University and a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia. He started her career with Prince William County Public Schools serving as a history teacher at Unity Braxton Middle School for 13 years. Mr. Beard then moved to Whitman Middle School in Fairfax County and served as a Dean of Students, IB MYP Coordinator and Testing Coordinator. Most recently, Mr. Beard has served the last 4 years as an assistant principal at Poe Middle School. Mr. Beard also serves the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program as a Workshop Leader and Site Visitor. 

Throughout his educational career, Mr. Beard has been a champion for student growth and development. He has spearheaded initiatives in social-emotional learning, equitable grading practices, and restorative justice, creating a supportive environment where all students can thrive. Mr. Beard strongly believes in building strong relationships with students, staff and families. He has worked to establish open communication and collaboration within the various communities he has served. 

When not at school, Mr. Beard enjoys working out, watching sports, being outdoors, and spending time with his wife and three teenage girls. He was a college wrestler and continues to coach wrestling at South Lakes High School. 

Although Mr. Beard will be serving his first year at Annadale Terrace, he has served the Annandale community for several years and is excited to continue his work at the elementary level.
