The Region 2 Leadership Team is pleased to announce Ms. Ingrid Badía as the new principal at Annandale Terrace Elementary School, effective September 19, 2022.

Ms. Badía holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Psychology from Goucher College and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University. She started her career with Fairfax County Public Schools as a Spanish Immersion and Language Arts Teacher at Bailey’s Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences. Ms. Badia has over six years of administration experience, having served as an assistant principal at Annandale Terrace and, most recently, Mason Crest Elementary.

Ms. Badía is well-equipped to serve as the new Principal at Annandale Terrace Elementary. She has served as a Spanish Immersion Teacher, Mentor Resource Teacher, World Language Curriculum Resource Teacher, Instructional Coach, and Assistant Principal in various school settings.  During her multiple roles, she has provided mentoring, coaching, and guidance to many first-year and veteran teachers in Reading, Math, Science, and Foreign Languages at the elementary level. She played key roles in supervising and monitoring Special Education programs, developing, and supporting the implementation of IEPs in grades K-5. In addition, Ms. Badía has monitored instructional programs focusing on deeper learning. She has analyzed school-wide data and created multi-tiered systems of support to ensure equitable outcomes for all students.

Ms. Badía recognizes the importance of a Professional Learning Community culture. During her tenure as an assistant principal, she has played a key role in developing, implementing, and evaluating high-performing collaborative teams.  She applied and modeled effective team practices by empowering teachers and developing collective capacity among faculty and staff members at Parklawn ES and Annandale Terrace ES, and now at Mason Crest ES. These collaborative teams allowed her schools to implement Local Level IV, Special Education programs, and ELL programs to meet the multiple needs of the current student population, including students living in poverty. In addition, she has developed and delivered numerous professional development workshops around Professional Learning Communities. Ms. Badía has published articles on “Developing the Language of Mathematics in Partial-Immersion” and “Developing Language in Digital Natives.” She is a leader who fosters a welcoming culture that values diversity and inclusion for all students. She is a bold advocate for students and families, focusing on student needs at all times.

Ms. Badía is excited and honored to return to Annandale Terrace Elementary. She will work closely with the Interim Principal and Assistant Principals at Annandale Terrace to continue the great work the staff has put together for this school year.
